Digital Dispatch adds public data network support to dispatch software
Digital Dispatch Systems this week announced the launch of PathFinder 3.05, the latest version of its dispatch software suite that now provides support for public data networks (PDNs)-such as GPRS, CDMA and iDen-in an existing private mobile radio (PMR) application.
PathFinder integrates software, wireless networks and mobile data terminals with GPS receivers to provide a seamless dispatch solution for fleets of vehicles, the company said. The software also is scalable from small fleets to fleets with thousands of vehicles.
The ability to support PDNs will allow fleets without PMR infrastructure to offer the advanced services of automated dispatch by leasing wireless data services from local carriers, the company said, adding that fleets with PMR can benefit from adding PDN support to extend their radio coverage.
