IPMobileNet said yesterday that it had launched IP XpressNet, an 801.11-based mesh network that provides backhaul and mobile data user access to LANs, WANs and other IP-based networks. The system provides dedicated radios and separate channels for both backhaul and mobile client connectivity. A key component is the SmartCell access point, which can be mounted on buildings, light poles and other outdoor fixtures. Users can achieve backhaul speeds between access points up to 108 Mb/s with 802.11a/g networks, while mobile clients can achieve data rates up to 54 MB/s with 802.11a/b/g networks, the company said.
