Turkcell offers PoC to business customers
Turkish GSM operator Turkcell today announced it has begun offering business customers commercial push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) service provided and deployed by Nokia.
Not available today from U.S. GSM carriers, Nokia’s PoC technology is designed to provide a smooth migration to the Open Mobile Architecture (OMA) standard and is compatible with IP multimedia subsystem, as standardized in 3GPP. The Nokia solution is being trialed by 30 mobile operators.
“Our successful cooperation with Nokia coupled with its market-leading PoC solution made Nokia the obvious choice in enabling us to launch this attractive new service for our subscribers,” Turkcell CEO Muzaffer Akpinar said in a prepared statement.
With 22.3 million subscribers, Turkcell is the leading provider of mobile services in Turkey.
