Harris notches customer wins
Harris Corp. this week has announced two government-oriented contracts with the U.S. Army and Indian River County, Fla.
Part of a project led by Lockheed Martin, the U.S. Army contract calls for Harris to supply Anteon International with an integrated video-content management and distribution system that will be utilized in the U.S. Army’s Combat Training Center Objective Instrumentation Systems Program. Announced today, the program will be deployed at the U.S. Army’s National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif.
Announced yesterday, the Indian River County contract was quickly awarded to Harris in the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne. Located about 100 miles south of Orlando, Indian River County previously used an E911 that depended upon T1 connections destroyed in September 2004, when ripped through area caused $6.5 billion in damage.
Within a week, Harris supplied equipment for, and Communication International Inc. installed, a completely redundant system with four Intraplex Digital CrossConnect Systems and the Aurora Spread Spectrum Digital Microwave Radio—a replacement project that normally takes at least a month, according to Harris.
Separately, Harris today released the fact that Sprint has selected Harris’ Truepoint 4000 solution—unveiled officially at the 3GSM World Congress earlier this week—as a backhaul vehicle for its nationwide wireless network.
