EFJohnson to supply DOD with P25 radios
EFJohnson said it has been awarded a contract worth $2.9 million to provide the Department of Defense with Project 25-compliant radios and accessories.
Also, EFJohnson sister company Transcrypt International announced a $1.4 million from an undisclosed customer in the Middle East to provide encryption boards and programming devices that will help secure the customer’s two-way land mobile radio communications system for a customer in the Middle East.
Previously, Transcrypt landed a $1.9 million contract in January 2005 from a customer in the Middle East for voice security products for a two-way radio system. “Communications security continues to be an important issue in many Middle Eastern countries,” said Michael E. Jalbert, chairman and chief executive officer of Transcrypt parent company EFJ Inc., in a statement.
In other news, EFJ reported first-quarter 2005 revenue of $24.2 million, an 8.6% increase year over year, and net income of $5.2 million–or 28 cents per diluted share–a 73% increase over the $3.0 million–or 16 cents per diluted share–reported for Q1 2004. Jalbert said the results primarily were driven by “record revenue and earnings in our secured voice communications segment,” and added that they were tempered by increased spending on research and development activities at EFJohnson. Jalbert affirmed the company’s previously stated guidance of consolidated revenues between $95 million and $100 million for full year 2005, with earnings per share ranging from 50 cents to 56 cents.
