Northern Michigan University has deployed a wireless LAN developed by Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Meru Networks that can support more than 100 users through a single access point without degradation of quality or throughput. The typical WLAN access point can accommodate no more than about 75 users, the company said. The reduced number of access points needed has helped the university reduce both its deployment and operating costs, according to the company.
