M-A/COM today announced that the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has awarded the company an $8.9 million contract to deploy an IP-based 700/800 MHz OpenSky wireless voice and data network. The new network will serve about 2000 LVMPD officers and provide interoperable communications with surrounding agencies, the company said in a press release. It also will let users transmit voice and short data messages, as well as file transfers, and will integrate with the department’s dispatch center.
