Shared Spectrum Co. demonstrated its solution designed to improve access to available radio frequency spectrum during a live demonstration held at Fort A.P. Hill, Va. The demonstration was part of the neXt Generation Communications (XG) program, Phase II, funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and managed by the Air Force Research Laboratory.
The company used six mobile, 802.16-based XG radios operating in the same spectrum as military and commercial legacy radios. According to the company, the demonstration showed the XG radios didn’t cause harm to the existing radios and that they could operate in the presence of electromagnetic interference, e.g., jamming.
