The U.S. Army awarded TCOM a contract to develop and to demonstrate a Cellular Aerostat Platform System (CAPS) that restores emergency communications during a national disaster. The company’s Tactical Aerostat System air balloon carries the 200-pound CAPS payload to an altitude of 1000 feet to deliver a wireless network that covers more than 600 square miles, according to the company. The system includes a multi-carrier power amplifier and dual RF-antenna system.
