Digital Angel’s SARBE division signed a $9 million contract with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense for its personal emergency locator system. The supply contract is for more than 4500 systems that include an advanced aircrew personal locator beacon and an integration solution that activates and deploys antennas when fitted in aircrew clothing. It transmits a distress signal on 406 MHz, contains a unique identity and offers GPS coordinates. The signal is processed by the COSPAS-SARSAT network that alerts the relevant authorities in the country of registration.
