ModUCom wins California contract
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) awarded Modular Communications Systems (ModUcom) with a multimillion-dollar contract to upgrade the agency’s radio-dispatch consoles with ModUCom’s UltraCom-IP digital dispatch communications consoles.
Under the terms of the deal, ModUcom will deploy UltraCom-IP consoles that leverage a fault-tolerant switch architecture with VoIP capabilities in all 25 CHP communications centers, which employ about 1,100 dispatch personnel.
“It’s one of the larger [contracts] we’ve had over the years,” said Peter Hong, ModUcom’s vice president of operations. “It’s a similar system to what we currently offer, but we’re developing new features specifically for the CHP right now.”
ModUcom will begin the first phase of installation on April 15, and the final stage is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2011, Hong said.
