Reliable radio communications are essential for first responders at an incident. Charles Werner joined Associate Editor Mary Rose Roberts to discuss the reliability and challenges the fire service faces when it comes to radio communications. Werner is a 34-year veteran of the volunteer and career fire rescue service. He recently celebrated his 31st year with the Charlottesville, Va., Fire Department and presently serves as its fire chief. He also is a member of the International Association of Fire Chief's Communications Committee and executive committee chair of SAFECOM.
