ShotSpotter, Intrado enhance partnership to include cloud service

Intrado will host the ShotSpotter solution using its secure Intrado Co-location and Transport cloud service (I-CAT).

  • 5th October 2011

ShotSpotter and Intrado expanded their partnership to better enable emergency response to gunfire, officer safety, more complete forensic and investigative capabilities in gunfire incidents, and better crime analysis capabilities. Intrado will host the ShotSpotter solution using its secure Intrado Co-location and Transport cloud service (I-CAT). ShotSpotter offers a subscription-based service that provides public-safety agencies with improved situational intelligence and real-time alerts of gunfire and gunshot incidents that heighten first responder safety and facilitate improved incident management, investigations, and crime analysis and intelligence.

ShotSpotter is a certified partner in the Intrado A911Alliance Member Program, a managed service program designed to upgrade the capabilities of 911 emergency operations centers and public safety answering points by delivering a broader set of life-saving features across the U.S. The program creates an open marketplace for companies to significantly improve 911 responsiveness and effectiveness by integrating their solutions with Intrado’s next-generation 911 network using open standard interfaces.

Intrado’s NG-911 network delivers voice, text, rich media and hosting services through its fully secured and redundant networks and hardened facilities. As part of the agreement, ShotSpotter continues its commitment to interoperability with Intrado’s NG-911 voice and data services, ensuring that their solutions are fully compatible with approved industry standards. By leveraging Intrado’s cloud infrastructure and secure network, ShotSpotter can deliver its advanced capabilities and features to 911 centers, PSAP operators and patrol officers.

Alerts of crimes-in-progress involving gunfire detected by the ShotSpotter solution will be delivered in real time to 911 centers and PSAPs over Intrado’s secure and reliable emergency services Internet Protocol network. ShotSpotter’s service includes qualified alerts, which provide instant review and assessment of gunshot incidents by highly trained gunshot experts. That information is quickly delivered to 911 call-takers, dispatchers and patrol officers who have immediate actionable information to more safely approach and disarm hostile and dangerous situations. According to ShotSpotter data, the alerts also allow 911 centers and PSAPs to respond to the estimated 75-85% of gunfire cases in which residents do not call 911.
