Hurricane Michael response effort forces postponement of Winter Institute
This year’s Winter Institute workshop and exercise in College Station, Texas, is being postponed—likely until the first quarter of next year—because many of the participants are part of the response effort to Hurricane Michael in the southeast U.S., according to an event official.
“The 2018 Workshop and the Exercise that were to be held October 22-26 at Disaster City have been postponed,” according to a statement on the Texas A&M University Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC) website. “Due to Hurricane Michael, many of the sponsors and presenters for this event are responding to the affected areas.”
Although the website statement indicated that the Winter Institute workshop and exercise could be conducted in February, ITEC Director Walt Magnussen told IWCE’s Urgent Communications that officials also are considering dates in January and March.
