Motorola Solutions to showcase new body-worn camera at IWCE 2019
Motorola Solutions this week will showcase the Si200, the company’s first body-worn device that functions strictly as a video camera and integrates with its CommandCentral Vault digital-evidence management system, according to company officials.
Anatoly Delm, Motorola Solutions’ director of global market for devices and infrastructure, said the company developed the Si200 after receiving customer feedback about its Si500 video speaker microphone.
“Our customers also asked for something that was simpler, and the Si200 is the answer to that,” Delm said during an interview with IWCE’s Urgent Communications. “The Si200 is a standalone camera—it’s not integrated into the speaker microphone. It hangs on its own. Its job is to collect video, and that’s its only job. So, it’s much more simple in terms of capabilities and operation, because it’s built for one job.”
Announced about a month ago, the Si200 includes configurable settings that let users capture video at configurable resolutions as great as the 1080p high-definition standard, Delm said. The video can be uploaded automatically via an approved Wi-Fi connection, he said.
“It’s a high-quality camera, but it’s simple, in terms of use and concept,” Delm said. “It connects into our CommandCentral Vault application, and that’s where all of the evidence is integrated, so customers can put it all in context.”
In terms of durability, the Si200 is rated as an IP67 and MIL-SPC-810G device, Delm said.
Motorola Solutions is not releasing pricing information about Si200, but Delm said the new camera will be less expensive than the Si500.
IWCE 2019 attendees can learn more about the Si200 and other Motorola Solutions products in Booth #1125.
