NENA: Brian Rosen updates NG911 standards progress for Version 3 of i3
Brian Rosen, co-chair of the NENA i3 Architecture Group, provides a status update for Version 3 of the NENA i3 standard for next-generation 911 (NG911), which is entering its second public review and comment phase and could be finalized as early as March 2021. Version 3 of i3 includes several notable additions, including new specifications for callbacks and language that is designed to enable interoperability between i3 systems.

Just to clarify Brian’s comment regarding ANSI designation, while version 2 if the i3 Standard followed the ANSI-approved NENA process, we did not file a PINS (Project Initiation Notice System) notice for version 2. We did, however, file a PINS for version 3, so this will receive the American National Standard designation when approved.
