AT&T’s networking chief, Chris Sambar, to leave company

Chris Sambar, responsible for building and operating AT&T’s massive wireless and wireline networks, is departing the company Oct. 11, AT&T confirmed to Light Reading.

It’s not clear who might replace Sambar. Sambar reported to AT&T’s chief operating officer, Jeff McElfresh.

“Chris has played a crucial role in delivering on our commitment to be the best connectivity provider in the US. His work has been instrumental to advancing 5G, launching FirstNet and expanding fiber to millions of homes and businesses,” according to an AT&T memo announcing the news that was distributed to employees yesterday.
