Have questions about Rivada proposal? Ask them tomorrow
Earlier this year, we conducted a series of audio and video discussions with Ganley about DSA/TPA and its potential impacts. During these interviews, Ganley touched upon various topics, including how the Rivada approach could benefit new entrants in the market, the repercussions for large incumbents, and whether DSA/TPA should be used as an alternative to traditional spectrum auctions by regulators.
Tomorrow, we plan to go into more detail on these subjects, including exactly how commercial entities would bid on bandwidth capacity and what levels of reliability a commercial operator can expect when given secondary access on an operator’s network.
Of course, Rivada Networks’ DSA/TPA proposal has attracted attention primarily as a potential revenue-producing option that would help FirstNet make the difficult economics of a nationwide broadband network for first responders work. FirstNet officials have reiterated several times that they need to find a way to monetize the excess capacity on the FirstNet broadband system, but they have not indicated which method would be the best way to meet this lofty goal.
Is Rivada’s solution the best choice for FirstNet? That’s going to be the subject of considerable debate, and it’s important that it’s an informed debate from the standpoint of all stakeholders. With this in mind, we hope you’ll join us and take this opportunity to ask the pointed questions about the Rivada proposal that you need answered to help develop your informed opinion on this extremely important topic.
