Harris announces new Tait-powered simulcast offerings for DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3
While the DMR simulcast solution is separate from Harris offerings today, Harris does plan to enable integration between the DMR simulcast system and the Harris VIDA platform, the IP backbone that is a signature feature for the company’s public-safety LMR networks, Benit said.
“On our roadmap, what we’re going to do is, by the end of this calendar year, we would have connectivity between the DMR core to our VIDA,” Benit said. “Today, we don’t have that solution. Today, if we sell that solution, we will sell it with the Tait core—the TN9400.
“As we move forward with our integration, we’ll take this TN9400 and connect it to VIDA to offer more varieties and solutions to our customers, such as the Symphony console and BeOn push-to-talk over cellular. All of those solutions will be implemented into DMR Tier 3 by the end of this calendar year through VIDA.”
Currently, the Harris roadmap is targeting VIDA integration with the DMR simulcast offering for this fall, but it is possible that the project is not completed until spring 2019, Benit said.
