BayRICS testing xG Technology public-safety pilot network in three California municipalities
In addition, the pilot has been used to conduct “dozens” of demonstrations for California public-safety stakeholders, resulting in “xMax [being] under consideration for purchase and deployment as a public-safety broadband wireless solution by area municipal and emergency operations officials,” the press release states.
“We appreciate the opportunity to showcase the xMax private mobile broadband wireless network to California public-safety stakeholders, and we look forward to receiving orders to install our systems for public safety in the San Francisco Bay area,” xG Technology CEO and Chairman George Schmitt said in a prepared statement.
“xMax offers a compelling answer to the needs of emergency communications operators and first responders by delivering a high-capacity, high-reliability, rapidly-deployable solution. In addition to supporting all the public-safety devices and applications currently in use, xMax will provide compatibility and interoperability with the FirstNet public-safety network when it is rolled out.”
Fraser also was quoted in the press release.
“We want to evaluate xMax as both a primary wireless system for public-safety voice, video and data, as well as a disaster-recovery network that complements FirstNet when it becomes available,” Fraser said in the prepared statement. “Many of our member agencies are conducting tests right now to see whether xMax will meet the stringent capacity, coverage and functionality required by our first responders.”
