Harris appeals to application developers with latest BeOn evolution
This transducer was incorporated into the BeOn platform, enabling timely data to be sent to the appropriate people.
“As you can imagine, if you’re involved in a shooting incident, the last thing you’re probably doing is hitting the radio and calling for help, because you’re focusing on where you’re firing,” Simon said.
“This system automatically can detect that gunshot and send out a notification that hits the BeOn server and is distributed out to the right people. So there’s a real life-saving potential in an application like that.”
Blueforce, meanwhile, uses various sensors to monitor personnel location and the internal and external environment of first responders, increasing the situational awareness of the commanding staff and improving their ability to manage resources.
“The whole idea with the facial recognition, with the internal environments sensors, the external sensors, [and] the gun sensor is really to automate the public-safety workflow to make their jobs safer—because response times are everything, as we know—and bring it to a device that everyone is used to using, which we happen to already have a platform on for push to talk, and that’s where BeOn comes in,” Pedaci said.
