APCO taps SpectrumWatch for online application service
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials has entered into a service agreement with SpectrumWatch, a division of Sitesafe Inc., to provide online data submission services for FCC Form 601 applications. This service enables anyone to file public safety radio applications with APCO through the Web-based Form 601 interface on the SpectrumWatch Web site.
According to SpectrumWatch, the new system would allow anyone with an Internet connection to sign up for a Web Form 601 account. This account provides the public safety official with an easy to use tool for filling out this standard, but complex, FCC Form. Once the application has been entered, the system will automatically initiate the process of transferring the application directly into APCO’s coordination system.
Public safety entities, such as police and fire departments, EMS and transportation, must file a Form 601 with the FCC whenever a modification is made to a two-way radio installation.
