Intermec Technologies said this week that its radio frequency identification equipment became the first to be certified as compliant with the newly approved RFID at UHF standard developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). The IF4 and IF5 RFID readers are compliant to ETSI radio standards for operation in Europe, both under the lower power 0.5W erp (EN300 220) standard and the newly established 2.0W erp (EN302 208) RFID standard, which permits higher RF power, the company said.

In other news, Intermec said El Paso County, Colo., would deploy a complete RFID enterprise asset-tracking system consisting of DSI's RFIDActivator software and process consulting services, Intermec RFID readers and tags, and PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne ERP software. Intermec said El Paso County plans to use the system to track inventory and maintain its truck fleet and heavy equipment.
