T-Mobile USA has teamed up with chipmaker Intel in a joint marketing campaign to promote T-Mobile’s Wi-Fi – 802.11 – high-speed wireless Internet service.
The two companies plan to boost awareness of its “hot spot” service, in which notebook users can wirelessly connect to the Internet and to corporate networks from locations in airports, bookstores and coffee shops.
T-Mobile has been working with Starbucks to establish Wi-Fi hot spots in its coffee shops, while also slashing the price of its monthly and daily service fees.
As part of the same campaign, Intel plans a March 12 announcement of its latest mobile technology, Centrino, which includes a mobile processor, chipset and built-in Wi-Fi capability.
