SpectraSite names vice presidents
SpectraSite Communications Inc. announced the addition of two new national account vice presidents to its nationwide sales force.
Travis Morey and Todd Cast round out a national account team of four vice presidents.
Travis Morey joins SpectraSite from Nextel Communications, where he most recently held the position of national senior director of the Tower Assets Group.
As National Account vice president, Morey primarily will focus on the Nextel and Nextel Partners accounts.
Todd Cast joins the company as national account vice president, primarily focusing on the T-Mobile and Cingular accounts. Since 1999, Cast has been employed with Sprint Sites USA, where he was the National Accounts and Sales Manager responsible for developing national relationships with all of the major wireless carriers.
Morey and Cast join SpectraSite’s existing National Account team, which includes Robert Anderson and Brian Porter-both in vice president roles. Morey and Cast will report to Robert Glosson, senior vice president of Sales & Marketing.
Ford tapped for advisory board
Gerald Ford, vice president of corporate strategic planning for ARINC Inc., has been named a member of the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC) Advisory Committee, Anne Arundel County’s new business incubator.
One of the primary focuses of the CIC will be the development of firms specializing in homeland security/defense technology, the first in the nation with this focus.
The CIC Advisory Committee will guide policy development, provide advice on ways to help incubator companies succeed, and assist with fund raising for the Chesapeake Innovation Center.
The Advisory Committee is not a board of directors.
CEA exec tapped for nonprofit post
The Consumer Electronics Association announced that Ralph Justus, vice president of standards and technology at CEA, has been elected president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Consumer Electronics Society.
Justus was elected to the position by the society’s governing 15-member administrative committee. He has served as the president of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society.
As president of the IEEE’s CE Society, Justus is responsible for administering the affairs of the society and serving as the society’s representative on IEEE’s Technical Activities Board (TAB).
The IEEE is a nonprofit, technical professional association of more than 377,000 individual members in 150 countries. Through its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in 37 technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics, among others.
Interactive names Latin America rep
Interactive Enterprise has announced that Robert Kiely will represent the company in the Latin America and Caribbean markets.
Kiely brings 25 years of international sales and marketing experience in telecommunications to the company. He served as VP International Sales, Latin America and EMEA for Syndeo Corp. In this capacity, Kiely worked with major cable MSO’s and DSL operators as well as wireless broadband and fiber based service providers. His background also includes sales management for telecom companies such as California Microwave, Alcatel, DSC Corp., AT&T, and GTE.
Kiely holds an MBA in marketing and international business and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
Topaz3 names sales manager
Topaz3 is pleased to announce Mark Henke as the new district sales manager for the western portion of the United States, which includes Alaska and Hawaii. Henke has been with Topaz3/Maxon for 16 years and brings a wealth of product knowledge and enthusiasm to his new position.
Henke began his career with Topaz3 in the Technical Support area and worked his way up to Product Management, including the newest venture for Topaz3-ComStar AVL, a low-cost automatic vehicle location system. Henke’s experience as a technician and product manager gives him a unique perspective on selling two-way communication products. His working knowledge of the Topaz3 product line will provide dealers with a level of expertise seldom found in the industry.
As a district sales manager, Henke will assist existing dealers with the marketing and sales of Maxon, Legacy and ComStar products and will be responsible for adding new dealers to the Western region.
With the addition of Henke, Topaz3 has re-aligned the sales department to enhance their ability to meet with more dealers on a regular basis and provide the level of service they have come to expect from Topaz3. Canada and Latin America will not be affected by the re-alignment.
EFJ appoints board member
EFJ Inc. announced that Veronica A. (“Roni”) Haggart was appointed to the company’s board of directors.
Haggart is vice president for Strategic Relations at XtremeSpectrum in Vienna, Virginia.
She is formerly a corporate vice president of Motorola Inc. where she was director of government relations globally and director of Motorola Ventures, Eastern Region.
Prior to Motorola, she was appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate as a member of the U.S. International Trade Commission.
She also was a founding partner of a Washington, D.C., law firm. Haggart is a native of St. Paul, Nebraska. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and Georgetown University Law School.

Ericsson executive to Join interWAVE as president and chief executive officer interWAVE Communications International Ltd. announced that Ericsson executive.
Erwin Leichtle has joined interWAVE as its president and chief executive officer and member of its board of directors.
Leichtle joins interWAVE following a successful term as vice president and general manager of Ericsson’s Eastern Europe and Central Asia regions.
Leichtle brings to interWAVE 31 years of experience working in telecom companies — Motorola, Ericsson, and Compania Nacional de Telefonos in Chile.
Prior to working with Ericsson’s Eastern Europe and Central Asian division, Leichtle was vice president and general manager for strategic accounts and global account executive for the WorldCom account, and reported to the CEO of Ericsson North America.
APCO names new legal chief
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Official International Inc. has announced that Robert M. Gurss, who has been its outside regulatory counsel for nearly 15 years, has agreed to become APCO’s first director of legal and government affairs.
Gurss will be based in APCO’s new government affairs office in Washington, D.C., along with Communications Affairs Manager Courtney McCarron, who is relocating from APCO International headquarters in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Gurss, a partner with the firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, also will continue to represent other clients through his new affiliation with the law firm of Fletcher, Heald, and Hildreth, PLC, which is also effective as of June 19.
Interactive Enterprise adds sales chief
Interactive Enterprise has announced that Greg Taylor will represent the company in the Canadian market.
As Interactive Enterprise’s regional sales manager for Canada, Taylor is responsible for overseeing Canadian day-to-day sales operations for the cable, telecom, and wireless markets.
Taylor was a senior account manager for Ceon Corp. where he was responsible for positioning CEON’s OSS solutions for the MSO’s in Canada and the Northeast United States. Prior to that Taylor was with broadband solutions provider Core Networks Inc.
Wi-Fi Alliance findes new director
The Wi-Fi Alliance announced that Frank Hanzlik has joined the organization as its managing director.
This new position reports to the Wi-Fi Alliance Board of Directors and is responsible for managing the global operations, growth, and outreach of the organization.
Hanzlik, most recently vice president of Marketing and Product Management at Mobilian, has previously held senior management positions at Dell and Motorola.
