NYFD selects iXP for radio restructuring
iXP Corp., a system integration and consulting company serving public safety markets, announced it has been selected by the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) to evaluate the department’s radio infrastructure and the operational capacity of its communication system.
The FDNY project comes as a result of recommendations made by the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in its report on the events of September 11, 2001. McKinsey was commissioned by FDNY and the New York Police Department to make recommendations for improved emergency response in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks.
iXP will lead a team of nationally recognized experts to provide FDNY with a technology study for radio, an operational review and technical specifications supporting legislation for providing in-structure coverage for first-responder communications. The program expands iXP’s existing relationship with FDNY as the Department’s system integrator overseeing FDNY’s citywide public safety technology modernization initiatives.
