The Central Arizona Project, which operates ands maintains a 336-mile-long aqueduct that delivers Colorado River water to southern and central Arizona, yesterday announced it has awarded M/A-COM a $5 million contract to deploy an interoperable 800 MHz communications system. The system will be based on M/A-COM’s OpenSky Internet protocol-based private wireless network. The network will connect about 400 CAP personnel and provide interoperable communications with local public-safety and municipal organizations, according to the company. In addition, the system will allow CAP to host four conversations per existing radio channel, increasing system capacity.
