D.C. to Install Wireless Broadband Network for First Responders
The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) today announced that Motorola and Flarion Technologies would jointly develop a high-speed wireless broadband data network that would be used by the district’s police, fire and emergency medical personnel. The network will consist of 10 transmission sites that will provide citywide coverage. The program includes installation, testing and operation of the network for one year. Flarion CEO Ray Dolan said in a statement that installation should be completed by the summer, with testing of the network to continue for one year after installation is completed.
