The city of Medford, Ore., announced it has deployed a high-speed mesh data network developed by Maitland, Fla.-based Mesh Networks, Inc. The 24-square-mile network will provide broadband data services to about 100 city workers, including police, fire, public works and building inspection personnel. The network will provide data rates similar to those provided by digital subscriber line and cable modem services, according to Mesh Networks. Last month, NexGen City announced the deployment of a 57-square-mile mesh network in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas. NexGen City is a licensee and OEM of MeshNetworks’ technology.
