Maxrad unveils ‘elevated feed’ mobile data antenna
LAS VEGAS–Maxrad introduced the BMEFC24005 elevated feed 2.4 GHz mobile antenna, which is designed to secure the optimal wireless coverage of mobile data systems in public safety vehicles. The antenna is designed for installations requiring elevation of the antenna over surrounding objects that obstruct omnidirectional RF coverage, the company said. Providing 5 dBi of gain, the antenna operates both on and off a ground plane, without degradation to its VSWR performance. It measures 16 inches tall, and its feed point is elevated 9-1/4 inches above its mounting surface, “easily clearing the overhead light bars in police and ambulance vehicles which often obstruct the RF signal,” the company said in a press statement. The antenna also features a molded polymer elevated feed housing and stainless steel spring and rod, for maximum resistance to everyday wear and tear, Maxrad said. The antenna is scheduled for delivery in April 2004.
