Nokia announced today that it has won a contract to build what it says will be the world’s largest shared TETRA (terrestrial trunked radio) public-safety network. Nokia will partner with Saab AB, which will act as system integrator on the project, and Swedia Networks, which will provide operate the network and provide system maintenance. Sweden’s government has allocated 250 million Euros ($307.6 million) for the project, according to Nokia. The build-out will occur in phases over the next five years, starting in southern Sweden, followed by the Stockholm and Gothenburg regions, Nokia said.
