European telecom regulators have approved the CDMA standard for use in PMR (public mobile radio) and PAMR (public access mobile radio) networks that operate in the 450 MHz and 900 MHz bands, the Wall Street Journal has reported. The Electronic Communications Committee of CEPT, a coalition consisting of regulators and policy-makers from 46 countries that covers all of Europe, made the decision. As a result of the decision, CDMA technology could be used by police and dispatch services, as well as by mobile networks serving remote or sparsely populated areas, the Journal reported.
