Digital Dispatch to supply western transit agency
Digital Dispatch Systems said it would provide more than 250 iPilot 8000 mobile computers to a major public transit agency in the Western United States. The contract includes project and installation services and is valued at about $900,000. Because Digital Dispatch is a sub-contractor, it is unable to disclose the parties involved, the company said. The project will be deployed using Verizon Wireless’s CDMA network.
The contract represents “another landmark” in the company’s diversification strategy, said Vari Ghai, Digital Dispatch’s CEO, in a statement. Last year, Digital Dispatch entered the trucking sector with its eFleet Web-based dispatch service, entered several North America taxi markets—including Toronto, Boston and Honolulu—and strengthened its presence in the roadside assistance market with a new contract with the American Automobile Association in Pennsylvania, the company said.
