Paratek Microwave Inc. received a $1.987 million contract award from the Defense of MicroElectronics Activity (DMEA) to further research and development on state-of-the-art concepts for military radio frequency identification (RFID) antennas.
Steve Shaefer, senior vice president and general manager of Paratek’s Government Operations, said, “This program will go a long way toward realization of the military’s mandate for 100% accuracy reading RFID tags.”
Paratek will couple development of electronically scanning, near field focused, phased array RFID antenna technology with investigation of circular polarized and electronically scanning RF beams to significantly improve tag read rates.
