Verizon Wireless launches 3G service in Seattle, San Antonio
Verizon Wireless this week announced it is offering high-speed Internet access over its new CDMA EV-DO network in Seattle after launching similar services last week in San Antonio.
Both wireless deployments let consumers in the cities access Verizon Wireless’ V CAST, a broadband multimedia service that delivers on-demand news and entertainment programs to laptop computers, as well as minute-long video clips known as “mobisodes” to users’ mobile phones.
Verizon Wireless has deployed EV-DO networks in 37 U.S. markets. The wireless carrier’s BroadbandAccess customers typically experience download speed of 400 kb/s to 700 kb/s. Outside the coverage range of its EV-DO networks, Verizon Wireless lets customers access the Internet through its nationwide 1XRTT networks.
