SDR Forum taps vendor for reference waveform
The Software Defined Radio Forum has selected Chelmsford, Mass.-based Mercury Computer Systems to develop a reference waveform for the military’s Software Communications Architecture (SCA). The reference waveform is scheduled for completion by September, the Forum said. It will be available for review by Forum members for six months, and then will be released to the industry via its Web site: www.sdrforum.org.
The SCA was developed by the Department of Defense via its Joint Tactical Radio Systems (JTRS) program to ensure that software-defined radios (SDRs) manufactured by different companies would be able to communicate with each other. The JTRS program was created to help the military migrate from its current radio systems to SDRs.
