Coast Guard to deploy wireless intercom system
Telephonics received a five-year contract for its Tru-Link Wireless Intercommunication System from the U.S. Coast Guard. The wireless intercom system interfaces with various radios and supports full-duplex communication, with 50 channels and 31 operators per channel.
In other news, the U.S. Navy invested in an onboard wireless platform. Secure wireless networking provider Fortress Technologies has been awarded a contract by NASSCO, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, to implement secure wireless communications on next-generation replenishment ships under the U.S. Navy’s Dry Cargo/Ammunition Ship program. Fortress will provide its security gateways and secure clients for a wireless link between the Shipboard Warehouse Management System provided by HK Systems and its end users.
