South Pasadena, Calif.-based Cogent Systems announced that the Los Angeles Police Department has used a Homeland Security grant to procure 500 of the company’s BlueCheck mobile identification devices for the city’s field officers, as well as other local law-enforcement agencies operating under the Los Angeles County Regional Identification System. The device is a Bluetooth-enabled mobile fingerprint scanner for law-enforcement applications, according to the company.
