McLean, Va.-based Spacenet introduced its mobile emergency communications vehicle for disaster recovery and first-responder organizations. It is a mobile command post that provides converged data, voice and video communications that are housed in a General Motors H2 Hummer. Communications systems include a satellite communications link, digital telephones, land-mobile-radio units, a laptop PC, video surveillance equipment and power interfaces for a generator or other standby power. The satellite link is built around an auto-acquisition antenna mounted to the roof of the vehicle, according to the company.
