Firetide announced that the Columbus Compact Corp., an Ohio-based, community-redevelopment nonprofit, installed the company’s wireless video-surveillance system. High-resolution, IP-based pan/tilt/zoom cameras were installed on six buildings in downtown Columbus. Each can record video with enough detail to identify faces and automobile license-plate numbers. The cameras focus on public risk areas that are commonly troubled by incidents such as panhandling, drug sales, prostitution, public drinking and loitering, according to the company.
