IWCE: In-building wireless coverage session sneak peek
Tomorrow, Polaris Wireless’ CEO Manlio Allegra will be amongst several panelists discussing in-building coverage at the “Location-Based Systems in Enterprise and Critical Infrastructure” session at the International Wireless Communications Exposition (IWCE) in Las Vegas. I recently spoke with Allegra and asked if he could provide Urgent Communications’ readers with an overview of the session, including how in-building coverage affects both the enterprise and public-safety sectors.
From the enterprise angle, Allegra said that the deployment of in-building technologies can provide an organization with a variety of benefits, from productivity improvements for field service workers to increased security within campus environments. In addition, public-safety benefits because presence and location technologies can be used to gather information about personnel — from technicians to first responders.
“The session will be about how location information can improve productivity and security in the enterprise and public-safety markets,” Allegra said. “In addition, we will introduce wireless location signature to the audience — a high accuracy, software-based location technology currently deployed in the U.S. for E911.”
Allegra also noted the session will offer case studies and discuss how public-safety benefits from location-based technologies.
