Darim Vision unveils wireless video encoder

Darim Vision unveiled its PVE400 wireless video encoder with FLIR Systems’ miniature, rugged PathFindIR thermal camera. The PVE400 is a rugged, wearable, wireless video encoder/streamer. It has a water-resistant and rugged aluminum enclosure equipped with auto-lock/quick-release connectors. PathFindIR is an uncooled, thermal-imaging camera that lets users see clearly in total darkness, and through smoke, dust, and light fog. It is a complete camera system with a hermetically sealed, IP 67 — rated enclosure, a 12VDC power input and a small form factor, according to the company.

Intergraph demonstrates CAD use for incident command project

Intergraph is the first computer-aided dispatch (CAD) provider supporting the Unified Incident Command and Decision Support (UICDS) project, the company announced. UICDS is sponsored by the Science and Technology Directorate of the Department of Homeland Security, and is being executed through a contract with prime contractor Science Applications International Corp. The project focuses on new technologies for incident response and situational awareness through the creation of a national architecture for emergency information sharing across jurisdictions and applications. As part of a team led by SAIC, Intergraph has demonstrated that emergency personnel can share information independent of the specific CAD product in use. Through a central core of middleware, users can subscribe to a feed of CAD data to monitor for incidents that meet specific criteria, such as region or type, and publish requests for assistance from other agencies when an incident occurs.

RadioMobile unveils CAD application

RadioMobile introduced the IQ CAD 911, a computer-aided dispatch application set that complements its networking and mobile-management suite of products. IQ CAD 911 is built with database tools and performs all the basic CAD functions for call taking, fleet resource management and report generation. It also features multi-call detection, E911 interface, dispatch via map module, and SMS messaging to PDAs.

It’s back to 2019 on Huawei, with the US and China exchanging barbs and the Chinese firm accused of skirting US export rules. China foreign affairs spokesperson Mao Ning Wednesday assailed the US for “overstretching” the concept of national security in order to discriminate against Chinese companies. She rejected a complaint by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo over […]
  • Driverless-car crashes less frequent, cause less damage, according to insurance research
Waymo is using insurance data to demonstrate that its self-driving taxis are safer than human-driven vehicles. The company, owned by Google parent Alphabet, has published research led by insurer Swiss Re that it says shows how driverless vehicles crash less frequently and do less damage than those piloted by humans. The study comes at a pivotal moment […]
  • Germany proposes strict curbs on Huawei
Relying on a Russian thug for energy supplies no longer appeared very sensible to Germany’s government after Vladimir Putin sent Russian troops into Ukraine. Similar dependence by Germany’s telcos on Huawei has looked just as risky to opponents of the Chinese equipment vendor. If Putin could turn off the Nordstream gas taps in response to […]
  • Survey highlights potential benefits, concerns about artificial intelligence for cities and counties
It appears that artificial intelligence (AI) is everything, everywhere and in every product the vendor community would have us buy. However, despite the hype, few dismiss it as just another high-tech fad. Indeed, some believe it is the third (or fourth) wave, depending on how one is counting in the ever-evolving digital age. As early […]
