Willdan Homeland Solutions was awarded a $1.8 million contract in conjunction with GTSI for public-safety interoperable-communications services to the California Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee (CALSIEC) Southern Planning Area (SPA). The program’s objective is to improve first responders’ ability to communicate across the planning area — where 500 public-safety agencies currently are using a variety of communications systems to serve a population of more than 22 million. GTSI will provide planning and training services in the development of the SPA’s tactical, interoperable-communications plans. The work will be completed by August 2010, according to the company.
