Attenuators Offer Ethernet/RS-232, Manual Control

JFW Industries has released a new line of low-cost variable attenuator systems under the 50BA- series banner. The plug-and-play modules come complete with Ethernet/RS-232 interfaces, plus manual control via momentary lever actuator switches with a seven-segment digital display. These variable attenuators are designed to be easy to use, compact, and affordable. The 50BAs are available with one or two channels of attenuation (0–63dB or 0–95 dB in 1dB steps) and operate from 0.2 GHz to 6 GHz. Custom designs also are available upon order. www.jfwindustries.com

Non-Ionizing Radiation Monitor

Narda Safety Test Solutions, an L-3 company, has introduced a NIR (non-ionizing radiation) monitor, which is designed to be used as a wearable or fixed area sensor. The Nardalert S3 features field-replaceable sensors, a large color display and comprehensive user software. This unit has a new mechanical design with removable sensors providing rapid field support and unlimited upgradeability for users. Its new package sports a top-mounted color LCD that simplifies operation and improves the user’s situational awareness. Units are charged and can be operated through the USB port with powerful new user software. www.narda-sts.us

New 216–252 MHz Antenna

The Telewave ANT220D3MB is a dual-folded dipole array antenna covering 216–252 MHz, with a precision phasing harness for optimum performance. The antenna is pre-assembled with a properly-sized support mast to provide a bidirectional horizontal pattern. The pattern also is easily field-adjustable. Each dipole element is constructed with a 6061-T6 aluminum base welded for maximum strength and sealed with Telewave’s Txylan coating. The elements are attached with a heavy-duty custom clamp set. All components are at DC ground potential. Up to 15 degrees of electrical uptilt or downtilt may be specified. www.telewave.com

GeoLENs V10.1 Expands Network Capabilities

CommScope’s Andrew Solutions has upgraded its GeoLENs Mobile Location Center (MLC) to Version 10.1, adding expanded functionalities for enabling commercial, emergency and security location-based applications in wireless networks. GeoLENs MLC 10.1 now supports networks of up to two million cells, has a new positioning technology-enhanced cell ID for GSM EDGE and UMTS 3G networks, and can be used by multiple operators to share network infrastructure. www.commscope.com/andrew/eng/product/geo/index.html

Harris P25 VDOC Site Configuration

The Harris VDOC (Voice/Data on Control) solution provides public-safety personnel with trunked radio coverage in locations with limited available frequencies. This lets users take advantage of Project 25 features at a significantly lower cost than a multi-channel trunked site, according to the company VDOC sites typically consist of one to three RF channels and are integrated into multisite P25 networks. www.harris.com
