May marks National Electrical Safety Month
Almost 1,500 deaths were caused by on-the-job electrical injuries from 2003 to 2009, according to data compiled by the Electrical Safety Foundation International. During that timeframe, there were more than 18,400 non-fatal electrical injuries.
With May being National Electrical Safety Month, McDaniel — a 75-year fire service and system vendor — offers a safety checklist to remind employers and employees to be conscious of electrical safety and “help maintain a safe working environment,” said Eric Wallenius, general manager for McDaniel. “We encourage everyone to take responsibility and do their part to ensure that they practice proper electrical safety techniques as part of their daily routine at work.”
