NPSTC needs volunteers for broadband projects
The National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) needs volunteers for three broadband projects.
First is a taskforce for developing 3GPP standards, upon which LTE is based. Part of this work will focus on NOVES — non-voice emergency services — related to non-voice communications between public safety users and dispatch or other public safety entities.
Second, because priority and quality-of-service functionality is built into LTE standards, public safety's requirements and standards-based solutions for LTE must be addressed. Recent NPSTC discussions have included developing a taskforce for the development and standardization of a framework for each topic that would be based on National Incident Management System/Incident Command System.
Third, the NPSTC is looking for leaders to develop a definition similar to the mission-critical voice definition for state/local broadband control during an incident.
