Twisted Pair’s WAVE Communicator for Microsoft Lync extends unified communications to mobile workers
Twisted Pair Solutions has announced the general availability of WAVE Communicator for Microsoft Lync, an application for extending the voice capabilities of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to mobile workers. WAVE Communicator extends the reach of Microsoft Lync so that office-based workers and mobile workers using smartphones or two-way radios can simply and securely communicate via voice or text while sharing valuable information such as status and presence.
Built on the WAVE, interoperability platform, WAVE Communicator is integrated with Microsoft Lync, appearing as a panel within Lync 2010 and displaying available communication channels. These channels may include multiple two-way radio networks, push-to-talk mobile talkgroups using smartphones or broadcast systems. When a Lync user wants to communicate with an individual or team they simply click on the appropriate WAVE communication channel and talk.
In addition to providing instant access to communications channels from within Lync 2010, WAVE Communicator has the ability to display presence information on a Bing map from GPS-supported devices such as smartphones and military and professional two-way radio systems. This capability is extremely important when it is essential to know where field resources are deployed and speaking with groups of users instantaneously is required.
