We want to hear your Superstorm Sandy stories
In what is becoming an all-too-common phenomenon, another devastating natural disaster hit the U.S. a couple of weeks ago, one dubbed appropriately enough as Superstorm Sandy. The storm, which occurred after a Category 1 hurricane merged with a major cold front, wreaked havoc across 10 states stretching from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. Hardest hit were New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
We're beginning to learn more about how the storm affected commercial and public-sector communications systems. In this issue, UC editor Donny Jackson reports that public-safety LMR networks fared considerably better than commercial networks.
As the days and weeks ensue, we will learn more. We'd like to hear from our readers about how their communications were affected by the storm, and how that affected their ability provide emergency response. We want to hear your stories, and see your pictures and videos. Please share them by commenting here, contacting us via Facebook or Twitter, or by emailing us. You can e-mail me ([email protected]) or Donny ([email protected]). We'll share as many of your stories as possible.
In the meantime, good luck to everyone affected by this disaster. We hope that recovery comes to you quickly. In the meantime, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
