NetMotion Wireless releases latest version of Mobility software

NetMotion Wireless announces Mobility 10.10, the latest version of its mobile VPN software that enables downloads 300% faster than its closest competitor while operating on the Windows 8.1 platform and providing enhanced Android support.

Enterprise mobility-management solution provider NetMotion Wireless yesterday announced Mobility 10.10, the latest version of its mobile VPN software that enables downloads 300% faster than its closest competitor while operating on the Windows 8.1 platform and providing enhanced Android support, according to the company.

“Mobility 10.10 is really focused on performance … it’s really all about speed,” Steve Fallin, senior product manager at NetMotion Wireless, said during an interview with IWCE’s Urgent Communications. “The benefit that workers in the field will see is that their applications are going to perform better. We’re insulating them from the problems caused by latency and packet loss.”

Mobility 10.10 is optimized for mobile wireless networks, using compression-acceleration technology and other performance strategies, according to Fallin. By compressing data by as much as 50% before sending, the NetMotion Wireless solution accelerates operational speed and can lower an organization’s data cost, if the organization has not subscribed to an unlimited-data plan with a mobile network provider.

NetMotion Wireless has posted a video offering a performance comparison of the Mobility solution and Cisco Systems’ AnyConnect.

But the main focus for NetMotion Wireless is ensuring that its Mobility solution performs as promised, Fallin said.

“We know for a fact that mobile workers, when they are out in the field, hate to wait around for the technology—the best of them are just focused on getting the job done, and the thing that they appreciate is the stuff that just works,” Fallin said. “We talk to a lot of administrators, and what they say is, ‘When we put your stuff in, the phone stops ringing [with complaints from the field workers].’”

In addition to the performance improvements, Mobility 10.10 includes certificate-based authentication for Android, as well as full support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, according to a company press release.

Mobility 10.10 also integrates with Riverbed Steelhead Mobile—a wide-area-network [WAN] optimization solution—to further reduce data consumption and enhance performance.

“With our support now, the two can play really well together in the same sandbox,” Tracy Crowe, NetMotion’s director of product marketing, said during an interview with IWCE’s Urgent Communications.

Separately, NetMotion Wireless this week also announced a new channel-partner program, Crowe said.

“The elements of the channel-partner program include having a dedicated channel sales manager to work with,” he said. “We’re providing focused training and support for those partners and for their customers, as well as deal registration.”

Other aspects of the channel-partner program include market-development funds and a dedicated partner portal that allows a partner to access collateral sales tools, Crowe said.

“The idea is that our solutions are expanding, and we felt the need to expand our opportunity to get the solutions out to the general market, so we’re focused on recruitment with this program,” Crowe said, noting that NetMotion Wireless is seeking new dealers to be part of the channel-partner program.
