Remembering Rhett Grotzinger

Mr. Rhett Grotzinger died on May 9 after a long battle with cancer. Donations in his memory are being accepted at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.   

Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Space Data Corporation. Rhett served as VP of Sales and Marketing for Trident Micro Systems where he established its PassPort™ trucking protocol as an industry standard and led it’s in unprecedented sales growth.

As the founding general manager of Kenwood Systems Group, he established Kenwood as a major player in the communications networks business. Rhett was a frequent speaker at various industry conferences and events, author of numerous published articles on wireless technology, has served on the boards of the Enterprise Wireless Alliance (EWA), American Mobile Telecommunications Association, and International Wireless Communications Expo.

Rhett,  WB5NWA, was a Radio Club Fellow and long time RCA member. He recorded over 4,000 flight hours in a wide variety of WWII era aircraft, much of that time in a stock Stearman and was a member of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority board of directors. He led a successful wireless sales and service organization in Texas that became a key provider of communications infrastructure and network services to Public Safety and Enterprise users.
